The Hindu Ekta Manch (HEM) today said it would approach Governor N N Vohra for a CBI probe into the rape and killing of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in order to bring the "real culprits" to book.
HEM general secretary Kant Kumar said the HEM rejected the investigation by the crime branch and it wanted to bring the real culprits to book.
We support severe punishment to the people involved in the gruesome crime but we only want that no innocent should be put behind bars, he told reporters in Kathua district.
The fall of the government generated a ray of hope among us and we are meeting the governor shortly to make an appeal for a CBI probe into the incident, he said.
He said they welcomed the governor's rule and added that the state government collapsed as the Dogras of Jammu united to protest against the step-motherly treatment meted out to them.
