The Gujarat government will showcase Dholera Special Investment Region and international smart city as an investment destination in the Vibrant Gujarat Investors' Summit 2019, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said today.
Rupani visited the Dholera SIR where he laid the foundation stone for a 20 MLD (million litres per day) common affluent treatment plant and a water pipeline project.
"The state government will showcase the Dholera SIR before national and global investors as a top investment destination at the Vibrant Summit next year," he said.
The chief minister said the government has planned projects worth Rs 3,000 crore for the development of a smart city at Dholera SIR.
"This will help develop Dholera as a world-class smart city and the best smart city in Gujarat, as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Rupani said.
The world's largest solar power plant, as well as underground drainage system, optical fibre network, among a host of things are being developed in the proposed smart city to bring it to the world map and make it an attractive investment destination, the CM said.
He said the government was planning to develop Dholera as a twin city of Ahmedabad, located at a distance of around 100 kms, for which an eight-lane highway will be constructed connecting the two cities.
A 12-km canal network will also be constructed which will have water all the year round to be used for transportation, he said.
