The Minister was speaking at the maiden passing out parade of sub-inspectors and guards of the Excise Department held at Excise and Taxation Training Institute in Nagrota.
Dr Drabu congratulated the pass-outs and expressed hope that they would work with dedication, adding that the Excise Department has rendered commendable service for decades and has an important role in revenue generation in the state.
The Minister announced that various welfare schemes for the employees of the department will be launched soon.
In order to motivate the officers and staff, the Minister said he would recommend rewarding the best performing employees with out-of-turn promotions.
Minister of State for Finance Pawan Gupta, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, asked the graduates to be honest and people-friendly while performing their duties.
