Winter starts pinching, temp dips below 2 deg C in parts of

Cold winds and fog have started taking North India into its grasp as temperature in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan dipped below 2 degrees Celsius today.
The lower hills of Himachal Pradesh reeled under biting cold wave conditions as night temperatures dipped below freezing point.
It was a chilly morning in the national capital today as the minimum temperature settled at 6.6 degrees, two notches below normal.
There was a shallow fog and mist in the morning as humidity was recorded at 71 per cent at 8:30 AM.
Winter seems to have finally picked up pace with residents feeling the pinch in the winter air this morning, according to Meteorological department.
In Uttar Pradesh, weather remained dry and Muzzafarnagar was recorded as the coldest part in the state with minimum temperature at 1.4 degrees.
According to a Met report, moderate fog engulfed a few places over eastern part of the state and shallow fog was witnessed at isolated places over western UP.
In Rajasthan, night temperatures continued to dip and Churu was recorded as the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 1.7 degrees Celsius.
According to a Met report, Mount Abu, the sole hill station in the state, recorded the minimum temperature of four degrees Celsius last night.
