Woman dead, husband injured as truck hits bike

A 24-year-old woman was killed and her husband seriously injured when the bike they were riding was hit by a truck near Lajpat Nagar here last night, police said today.
As per police, the deceased was identified as Farah (24). She was riding pillion with her husband on the bike when a truck hit them from behind at the turning under the Moolchand flyover. The truck driver fled from the spot leaving his vehicle on the road.
The couple were residents of Shaheen Bagh and returning home, police said.
"We received a PCR call at around 12.05 am following which a police team from Lajpat Nagar police station rushed to the spot and admitted the couple to the AIIMS Trauma centre where Farah succumbed to her injuries," said a police official.

Doctors treating her said that she died due to head injuries and hemorrhages. Her husband received serious injuries and his condition was stated to be critical.
The truck has been seized and a manhunt has been launched for the driver. A case of causing death due to negligent driving under section 304 A has been registered, police said.
