Palaniammal of Ammapet near here, bitten by two-month old dog about two weeks ago, died last evening, police said today.
She had initially neglected the dog bite and opted for home remedy for the wound. Later when she developed some ailment, she was treated in the Pasteur Institute of India in Coonoor, a leading institute in the production of anti-rabies vaccine.
Some days ago, the woman returned to Ammapet and her condition suddenly worsened and she died last evening.
Health department officials said the woman died of rabies and the puppy would have been bitten by a rabid dog.
