The accident took place early in the morning. The woman was aged around 25 and the child was 1 to 2 years old.
The guard of the train took the bodies to the railway station and left, Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijendra Bharadwaj of Mahesh nagar police station said.
"It is not clear whether it is a suicide or an accidental death. The statements of the driver and the guard of the train have not been recorded yet. Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the dead," he said.
