Woman Maoist surrenders in Warangal
Press Trust of India Warangal (Telangana) A woman Maoist who was active in Chhattisgarh today surrendered before police here.
M Suguna (40), a resident of Pambapur village under Bhupalpally Mandal in this district, surrendered before Officer on Special Duty Sunpreeth Singh.
She worked as a member of an Area Committee in Chhattisgarh where she was active in Pameda and Kuntla regions, police said.
Talking to reporters, the Maoist said she left the movement as she wanted to join the mainstream society and lead a peaceful life.
Suguna said policies and programmes pursued by Naxals were not in the interest of the common man. Also, there were differences among top Maoist leadership over the armed movement.
She said she was attracted by Telangana government's measures to rehabilitate surrendered Maoists.
Singh appealed to underground Maoists to join the mainstream and lead a peaceful life in Telangana.
