Woman officer in ACB net over Rs 2-cr disproportionate assets

An Assistant Supply Officer in the Civil Supplies Department here was arrested in a disproportionate assets case after Anti-Corruption Bureau officials unearthed properties worth Rs 2.24 crore allegedly belonging to her.
On credible information that P Sandhya Rani possessed assets disproportionate to the known sources of her legal income, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against her by the ACB and simultaneous searches were conducted at her house and other places on April 19
Several incriminating documents pertaining to the assets, income and expenditure of the accused officer were seized, an ACB release said here today.
The searches revealed that Rani allegedly possessed three residential plots, one building and two flats, one SSI unit, net cash of Rs 33.90 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 33.50 lakh, two cars besides investments and deposits of Rs 30 lakh, all worth Rs 2.24 crore.

The accused officer was subsequently arrested and produced before a special court and was remanded to judicial custody. The case is under investigation, the release said.
