Woman set afire by ex-husband

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly set afire by her ex-husband after she refused to enter a negotiation with him, in Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi today.
Kusum Sharma suffered around 40 per cent burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where her condition is said to be out of danger, a senior police officer said, adding that Giriraj, her ex-husband was arrested based on her complaint.
The incident took place near the Mianwali railway track around 9.30 am today when Kusum, employed at a shoe factory, was going to work.
Giriraj (40) stopped her on the way and tried to draw her into a negotiation. But as always, Kusum refused, which angered Giriraj, who poured a bottle of kerosene on her and set her afire, the officer said.

He also said that as per initial investigation, Giriraj had demanded money from Kusum, who has been living separately in Aman Vihar's Mubarakpur village with her two children after their divorce early this year.
Further investigation is on, he said.
