A 28-year-old woman, who had refused to withdraw a sexual harassment case against her husband for allegedly molesting his step-daughter, was troday shot at by him in outer Delhi's Ranhola area, police said.
She was in the market when her second husband, who is in his 30s, shot at her, the police said.
The woman sustained bullet injuries in her left cheek and abdomen, following which she was rushed to a hospital where her condition is said to be stable, they said, adding the accused, however, fled from the spot.
A senior police officer said that the woman had separated from her first husband about six years ago. Later, she met another man and got married to him. She has an eight-year-old daughter from her first marriage and a five-year-old daughter from her second marriage.
Her second husband allegedly molested his step-daughter and fled from their house. His wife lodged a case against him on May 29 but he was absconding since then.
He had tried contacting her to tell her that she should withdraw the case or "face consequences", the officer said.
She, however, did not budge.
Today, he attacked her in the market and fled. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest him, he added.
