A 30-year-old woman was stabbed after foiling an alleged rape bid by a youth here, police said Saturday.

A youth had barged into her house on Gorakhpur Road, where she lives with her two children, and tried to rape her on Thursday night, local police station incharge Yadvendra Pal said.

When the woman resisted, the youth attacked her with a knife before fleeing. On hearing the woman's cries, the neighbours took her to a hospital, the officer said.

"A case has been registered and an investigation is on," the officer added.
