Delhi Police has moved a fast track court seeking cancellation of bail of a brothel owner who had forced a girl into prostitution and then allegedly approached the victim's family with an offer of Rs one lakh to settle a rape case.
The application has been filed before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja who is conducting the trial in the case after the victim in her testimony said that brothel owner Praveen approached her family in her native village in Andhra Pradesh with the monetary offer.
After this incident, the court directed the police to provide protection to the victim.
In pursuance of the same, the police informed the court that the victim is escorted by one lady constable and two constables for court proceedings.
It also told the court that the staff at Bapuna Women Centre, where the girl is living at present, has also been briefed about protection to be given to her.
Earlier, an Additional Sub-Inspector associated with the case told the court that he has been receiving calls from a number which belongs to victim's father. At this, the victim said the accused has been calling the ASI from her father's mobile phone number with intention to make him speak to the police and settle the matter.
The judge had then directed the DCP to retrieve the call details.
The prosecution case is that the victim used to earn a living in her hometown by packing peanuts. In July 2011, she met a woman who brought her to Delhi for a well-paying job and was then forced into prostitution by Praveen and her co-accused Bhanu, who has been declared a proclaimed offender.
The court has framed charges of rape, abetment to rape against Praveen under IPC and also under various provisions of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.
