The deceased has been identified as Vijeet, a resident of Shivanagara in the district. The murder might have been taken place at around 2 am, police said.
Vijeet was an accused in four cases including three murder attempt cases. His gang had split a few years back and serious differences between the two factions had led to many fights over the years.
Members of the rival faction attacked him with lethal weapons at Moodushedde junction and he died on the spot, they said.
City police commissioner S Murugan and other senior police officials visited the spot. The Kavoor police have registered a case and investigations were on.
