A release said that Chief Secretary Manoj Parida,Finance Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Project Implementation Agency (PIA) V Candavelou, Finance Secretary of Puducherry government and Project Director of PIA Parthiban briefed the team on implementation of various projects funded by the Bank.
The team inspected various sites to see progress of works, which includ conversion of overhead power lines into underground cable system, effluent treatment plant in the fishing harbour, housing projects in tsunami hit areas and also the modern fish market on the ECR segment.
Construction of houses to rehabilitate tsunami hit families formed the important feature of the works taken up in the hamlets.
The PIA in charge of rehabilitation works in tsunami hit areas hadconstructed 830 houses out of the targetted 1,100.
The modern fish market had been completed with facilities for the targeted sections.
The Chief Secretary directed officials of the Department of Fisheries to finalise the list of fish vendors for allotment of stalls and to ensure that the fish market went on stream in the next 30 days, the release said.
The release said that the World Bank team expressed satisfaction over the quality of works and the progress made in implementing the projects.
The Chief Secretary asked the PIA to prepare and forward new projects for funding by the World Bank.
