The incident happened at around 8.15 PM yesterday when the youth identified as Arka Prabha Dey, a resident of Alipore Road, allegedly jumped off the parking lot of South City mall, they said.
Spotting the youth lying in a pool of blood, onlookers rushed him to a nearby nursing home where he was declared brought dead, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.
"We have started a probe into the incident. We have contacted the Dey family," he said.
