A young woman, who was accompanying him, also sustained injuries and has been referred to the PGIMS, Rohtak in a critical condition.
They were identified as Sunil Kumar of Badsi Gujran village in Bhiwani district and Pooja (22) of Rohtak district, police said.
A senior railway police officer said the train driver had told them that the girl, who had just crossed the tracks, made a bid to drag away the youth.
The girl had so far not been able to give her statement to the police, he added.
