A youth was detained by police for criticising a councillor belonging to the ruling Trinamool Congress in a post in Facebook today, a police officer said.
Rohit Pashi (23) was detained at Mal police station after the TMC councillor of ward number 12, Pulin Goldar, complained to the police that the youth had posted an adverse comment about him alleging that he had links with criminals.
Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police, Akash Megharia said that Pashi was detained under Section 107 IPC for abetment and was later released on furnishing a bond to maintain peace.
