Youth held for trying to rape Class X student

A youth has been arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 16-year-old class X student in Ashok Vihar area of northwest Delhi, police said today.
A senior police official said that the youth has been identified as Shokeen.
The victim lives in the area along with her family members and studies in a nearby government school. On Wednesday night she was returning home after tuition when Shokeen stopped her.
"He molested the victim and tried to rape her. She somehow escaped from his clutches and reached her home and narrated the whole incident to her family members who decided to approach the police," police said.

A case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. The girl has been admitted in a nearby government hospital where she is undergoing treatment, police said.
Sources said the youth had been stalking the girl for a long time.
