Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Virender Bhat also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on Uttar Pradesh native Ajay on a complaint filed by the father of the 14-year-old girl.

"The convict kidnapped a minor girl, who was just 14 years of age at that time, by extending lures and enticements to her. He acted so cunningly that he even represented to the girl that her mother is a bad woman and she should shun her studies and instead accompany him to live a happy life with him," the court said.

The case of the prosecution was that on March 18 last year, the girl's father Om Prakash had lodged a complaint with the police that her elder daughter had gone missing.

The police rescued the girl from the house of Ajay in Etawa in Uttar Pradesh on March 21 last year and he was arrested from there.

During the trial, the girl told the court that she had fallen unconscious after consuming snacks given by Ajay.

She said that on regaining consciousness, she found herself in the house of the accused in UP, where Ajay and his parents threatened to kill her if she did not marry him.

The ASJ, however, rejected her submission and considered her statement given to a magistrate under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In her statement to the magistrate, she had stated that she used to meet the accused on her way to a coaching centre and had become friendly with him.

The court also noted in the judgement that the accused had made false representations to the girl that he was earning Rs 500 to 600 per day due to which she fell into his trap and had agreed to accompany him.

The counsel appearing on behalf of the convict had sought leniency saying that the convict was merely 21 years old at the time of the offence and had committed the crime in "youthful frenzy".
