The police are trying to find out if the consignment was meant for any terror act or for hunting wild animals, the source said refusing to elaborate.
Mohammad Masiyoddin Ovaisi (35), Mohammad Umar Gazi (27) and Mohammad Mirajoddin (22), all residents of Hyderabad, were arrested yesterday after police intercepted their van at Kharabi Check Post in Umarkhed tehsil.
Police found a pistol, 60 live cartridges and a few detonators on them.
The ATS teams from Yavatmal and Akola are questioning the youths at Darathi police station.
According to the source, the trio were asked by their 'boss' to reach Umarkhed with the consignment and wait for further instruction, when they were arrested.
The trio, however, told police that they were not aware of the identity of the recipient of the consignment.
The ATS team has secured their mobile call records, Facebook ids and e-mail ids.
