Youths from 24 countries to learn Indian culture through

Over 100 youths from 24 countries have assembled here to experience and learn culture, heritage, art, dance, life, people, and the diversity of India through institutional visits.
They have assembled for the 10th SWYAA Global Assembly, which began here today and is being organised with the support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Japan's Cabinet Office.
As many as 110 youths from 24 countries are participating to contribute in the program by sharing their post-program activities with the Ship for World Youth (SWY) Leaders Alumni and their members, strengthening commitments for international cooperation.
The interactions and sharing of experiences during the Global Assembly is very important for mutual understanding, and key to promote cooperation between India and participating countries, an official statement said.
They will engage in volunteer activities and share information about SWY post-program activities taking place around the world, it said.
Operated by Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, SWY is a program that involves youths from Japan, India and countries around the world.
The participants board the Ship for World Youth, live together, and while on board, they study and discuss common issues from a global perspective and participate in other various activities that involve multi-cultural and multi- national exchange opportunities.
There are more than 6,500 youths (ex-participants) from 62 countries who have participated in the SWY program over 28 years. The SWY program which began in 1988 marked its 28th voyage in 2016.
SWYAA-India comprises 158 Indian delegates who were sent by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and have participated in the SWY program since 1988 in 14 batches.
