Sensex surges around 400 points as rupee recovers

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex rose around 400 points and the Nifty gained more than 100 points, tracking a rebound in the rupee which hit a record low on Wednesday, after Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) move to provide dollars directly to oil companies.

Mortgage lender Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd surged 6 percent, while software exporter Tata Consultancy Services Ltd was up 2.34 percent after earlier marking is all time high.
