Rallis India is in the race to bag Voltas chemical division as per the restructuring plan being worked out by the Tatas for the diversified major. Top industry sources say there are synergies with Rallis as Voltas division also makes agro-chemicals. Though the Tatas are likely to invite bids for the division, sources indicate that Rallis stands a strong chance of winning the bid.
We will be competing with others are definitely interested, said senior Rallis sources. Voltas division makes a variety of agro-chemicals at its plant in Maharashtra, which is shutdown at the moment.
Its main competitor is Cyanamid India Ltd. Rallis is Indias largest agro-chemical company with a turnover of over Rs 900 crore. The Tatas are also considering Tata Chemicals, another group company , to take over the division.
