Autodesk Inc, the fourth largest PC software company in the world specialising in computer-aided-design (CAD) software, has launched its latest AutoCAD Release 14 in the Indian market. Prices are expected to be lower than the international market rates.
The latest version was the result of feedback from more than 16,000 AutoCAD customers, developers and dealers worldwide, including from India which was used in extensive field testing, said Satish Bhave, group manager, Autodesk.
While the US price for the AutoCAD release 14 will be fixed at $3750 per version, the same product will be available to Indian customers at around Rs 87000.
The lower prices in the Indian market might also check the smuggling of the product from abroad, said Amar Hanspal, product manager, Autodesk.
The new product was released in the US in the second week of May and will be available in India by next month. AutoCAD release 14 runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT.
