As many as 63 projects undertaken by the Centre and state governments estimated at Rs 26,387 crore were completed during 1998-99.
An additional 23 projects, worth about Rs 7,003 crore, are expected to be completed by the end of June, the cabinet secretariat said, following a review of the on-going projects.
A government release said the cabinet secretariat recently reviewed the implementation of on-going projects implemented by central ministries and public sector undertakings, especially projects that have been under implementation for more than ten years or which were not making adequate progress.
This was done with a view to stepping up public spending and ensuring timely implementation of major projects for boosting faster industrial development and recovery of the economy, the release said.
