Cotton prices in the Punjab region rose on high mill demand and low supplies, but fell in the Gujarat region amid low demand, dealers said yesterday. Arrivals in the north dropped to 75/100 bales (170 kg each) while traders reported turnover of 1,500/1,600 bales. In spot deals, Bengal-deshi rose Rs 5 to Rs 15 to Rs 1,525/1,590 per maund (37.32 kg) while saw-ginned cotton gained Rs 5 to Rs 1,955/2,170 per maund. In spot deals, wagad cotton fell Rs 100/200 to Rs 14,200/14,400 per candy (355.56 kg).
