Punjab varieties ruled mixed while Gujarat cotton was quiet on local markets on Tuesday, dealers said.

In the Punjab segment, saw-ginned cotton rose amid thin supplies while Bengal-deshi was quiet amid rising new crop arrivals.

"Traders reported daily average new crop inflow of 1,400/1,500 bales (170 kg each) in the Punjab region. This contains the major portion of Bengal-deshi cotton while the inflow of saw-ginned cotton remained slow," a broker said.
