Cotton prices fell further on Thursday amid speculation that state agencies may cut prices while mill buying remained sluggish, traders said. In the spot deals, Bengal-deshi lost Rs 20-35 to Rs 1,440-1,490 per maund (37.32 kg) while saw-ginned cotton slid by Rs 25 to Rs 1,975-2,000 per maund. Long-staple Gujarat Sankar-4 fell by Rs 100 to Rs 20,500-21,000 per candy (355.56 kg) for average grade while superior grade lost Rs 100 at Rs 21,100-21,200 per candy.
