The government yesterday removed the Delhi police commissioner Nikhil Kumar following the furore over the killing of two businessmen near Connaught Place on Monday in a case of mistaken identity. The CBI has been asked to launch a probe into the incident. TR Kakkar, home guards chief and a former additional commissioner of Delhi police, took over as the city police chief. All the policemen involved in the incident were suspended, official sources said. The two businessmen, Pradeep Goel and Jagdish Singh, were killed in a shoot-out after the police mistook them to be gangsters from Uttar Pradesh.
