Essar Cellphone has consolidated its operations in Haryana by launching a new cell site in Sonepat. With this, the number of cell sites of the company, a joint venture between the Essar group and Swiss Telecom, has gone up to four in the district.
The new cell site is located off the GT Road in Rai.
The site will ensure wider coverage for an Essar Cellphone subscriber in Sonepat, especially in Kundi, up to the Delhi border. It will facilitate calls along the GT Road.
The new site will also function as a base station centre, linking 10-15 cell sites with the main switching centre in Karnal.
In addition, the site will also serve as a microwave backbone to facilitate better reception in the Rohtak, Hisar and Sirsa belt.
Essar Cellphone, which started operations in Haryana in December last year, also holds the licences to provide cellular services in the circles of New Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (East).
