Excise Evasion

Eighty-six cases of central excise duty evasion on excisable goods valued at Rs 234.88 crore were detected by the preventive unit of the central excise and customs in Bhubaneswar during 1996-97, according to central excise & customs commissioner Gopinath Sarangi. This involved central excise duty of Rs 33.56 crore.
