Union finance minister P Chidambaram yesterday said various suggestions were under consideration to compensate the loss of Rs 30 crore being incurred per day by way of selling petrol at the present price.
Participating in a get-together and face-to-face discussion here, he said a final decision on hiking the price of petrol would be taken after studying the suggestions. The economic development during the first 30 years since independence was 3.5 per cent, while it had gone up to about seven per cent after the implementation of the new economic policy, he said.
