Haryanas gross state domestic product (GSDP) will record a growth of 9.8 per cent during 1996-97, says a survey released during the recently concluded winter session of the state assembly.
The Economic Survey of Haryana for 1997-98 says that the excellent GSDP growth in real terms during 1996-97 has been mainly due to the outstanding performance of the agriculture sector, which recorded a growth of 11.5 per cent.
The survey estimates GSDP at factor cost of constant (1980-81) prices at Rs 8,134.57 crore in 1996-97 as against Rs 7,409.23 crore during 1995-96. At current prices, the GSDP at factor cost has been estimated at Rs 33,656.74 crore during 1996-97, up from Rs 27,653.57 crore during 1995-96.
The sectoral analysis reveals that GSDP at constant (1980-81) prices in the primary sector, including agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and mining increased from Rs 3,060.20 crore in 1995-96 to Rs 3,416.63 crore in 1996-97, an increase of 11.7 per cent; the secondary sector, including manufacturing, construction, electricity, gas and water supply rose from Rs 1,892.52 crore in 1995-96 to Rs 2,024.99 crore in 1996-97, an increase of 7 per cent.
The tertiary sector, including trade, transport and banking recorded an increase of 9.6 per cent, growing from Rs 2,456.61 crore in 1995-96 to Rs 2,692.95 crore in 1996-97.
