The Calcutta Stock exchange witnessed a further slide yesterday with the Index falling 2.74 points following renewed bear pressure.
Observers say, the downward movement of the pivotals, which has been consistent for the last few sessions, gained momentum due to renewed bear pressure.
Total lack of fresh buying support from FIIs and FIs and adverse political developments also contributed to the declining price trend.
Volume of business remained restricted. Closing at 423.81 points, the 51-scrip CSE Index dipped further to close at 421.07 points.
ITC was the only scrip which maintained its levels. It opened lower at Rs 294, touched a high of Rs 299 and declined marginally to Rs 296.
ACC opened at Rs 1,785 and ended at Rs 1,775, going down by Rs 30 and closing at Rs 1,805. Both Reliance and Tisco settled at Rs 188 and Rs 168.50 respectively. SBI saw hectic trading, opening lower at Rs 257.50 and closing at Rs 255.25. It subsequently, moved up to Rs 257 and closed at Rs 253.50.
