Energy India and Hindustan Aegies LPG (HALPG) have signed a $100-million joint venture for importing and distribution of LPG to north-east India. The venture will involve construction of a state-of-the-art 20,000-mt cryogenic LPG import terminal at Haldia, operated by HALPG, while Energy India will be responsible for the development of marketing and distribution company operating under the brand name 'Super Gas'. The prime goal of the venture is to supply LPG to West Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. The project is targeting one million domestic customers in order to substantially reduce the current waiting list. In addition, the industrial and commercial market requirements will also be serviced in both bulk and cylinder.
