Mumbai Indians, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, on Sunday defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 23 runs in the final match of the sixth edition of the T20 cricket tournament to lift its first IPL trophy.

CSK, which had come under a cloud lately with Gurunath Meiyappan, the team's senior member and BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law, being arrested in connection with the spot-fixing scandal, looked shaky right from the start of its chase of Mumbai's 148 runs.

Earlier in the day, Srinivasan announced setting up of a three-member panel to examine Meiyappan's role. He, however, rejected demands for his own resignation.
