Adam Opel AG, the German unit of U.S. carmaker General Motors Corp, said on Thursday that the issue of leadership at Opel was not on the agenda for a supervisory board meeting scheduled for March 23. The future of Opel chief executive David Herman (right) at the carmaker had been widely expected to be considered at the meeting amid reports that GM was planning to transfer Herman to Moscow to head the Detroit carmakers east European operations. In late January, the Opel works council announced its backing for Herman a 52-year-old American popular for his support of Germany as a place for foreign investment and that it would use its voting power on the board to try to block the transfer. Opel supervisory board chairman Hans-Wilhelm Gaeb said in a statement that Herman continues to have the complete confidence of Opel and General Motors.
