Sri Lanka has signed an agreement with Japan on Friday under which Tokyo would extend six soft loans amounting to nearly ¥36 billion ($314 million). The loans would be for improving power transmission, roads, telecommunications, water supply, irrigation systems and to develop small scale industries, the finance ministry said in a statement.

It said the loans were repayable over 30 years and include a 10-year grace period.
