The company has signed a technology transfer agreement with Johnson Controls Inc, US, for automotive batteries to be manufactured for the new joint venture of Ford Motor Company of US and Mahindra Ford. Johnson Controls, which is one of the largest suppliers to Ford Motor Company all over the world, has selected Standard Batteries to supply batteries for Ford cars produced at Nashik and later Madras. Standard has also signed a pact with Honda Motors, Japan, to supply batteries for Honda cars to be manufactured by Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. As per the agreement signed with Furukawa Battery Co Ltd, Japan, the company expects to manufacture valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) products for the industrial battery segment at the Taloja plant in Maharashtra.
