A number of patients infected with tuberculosis are returning to government hospitals following disillusionment with the private medical services, says a World Health Organisation in a recent report. About 70 per cent of new TB cases opt for treatment in the private sector after initial diagnosis, perceiving it to be more effective and easily accessible, but later they switch to government hospitals, the report says.
