It is perhaps ironic that just as several members of Business Standard's Billionaire Club have either lost their membership or are in imminent danger of doing so, the country as whole should attain that status. Celebrating the arrival of the billionth Indian was something like celebrating the millennium: it required a huge leap of faith in the absoluteness of time and numbers.
