Trading in the wholesale debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange witnessed heavy trading with the turnover touching Rs 402.44 crore yesterday.
In an unprecedented development, long-term securities dominated the days trade with the newly-issued 13.65 per cent central government security maturing in 2007 witnessing trades for Rs 162 crore.

The security was traded at premiums of 35 paise above par value. Dealers said that with the new security trading at 13.58 per cent, yield adjustments are likely to take place in the yield curve over the next few days Other long-term securities which saw active trading was the 12.5 per cent central government security maturing in 2004 which saw deals for Rs 10 crore, and the 13.85 per cent gilt maturing in 2006 which saw deals for Rs 5 crore at 13.58 per cent yields.
Besides, the medium-term securities also witnessed active trading. The 12 per cent central government security maturing in 1999 saw trades for Rs 10 crore at 12.69 per cent yield. These deals are to be settled the same day.
The 11.75 per cent central government security maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 20 crore. These deals, which were struck at 13.40 per cent, are to be settled after three days.
