Half-time report: The 1-1 scoreline in the first-half of the game between Jamshedpur FC and FC Goa at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur is deceptive given how Jamshedpur dominated it, except few momentary lapses, one of which caused them a goal leading to the half-time scoreline.
Jamshedpur started on the fifth gear and had their first opportunity of the game in the very second minute when Arques skipped past his man and floated a diagonal pass to Gourav Mukhi who took his shot from the right inside the box but Nawaz parried it away. From then on, it was a torrent of Jamshedpur attacks during which they created goal-scoring chance after chance with their forwards going close but not scoring the opening goal. That stopped in the 17th minute when Jamshedpur got a corner which Memo headed down inside the box, the ball trickled towards the far post and Soosairaj hammered it home to make it 1-0.
Goa found the going tough and were, on most occasions, unable to bring the ball out of their own half with Jamshedpur constantly putting the pressure.
Goa did go close in the 26th minute when Boumous latched on to a ball outside the Jamshedpur box and drove his shot towards the bottom right corner but his shot could only rattle the woodwork.
Jamshedpur had a great chance to double their lead in the 31st minute when Mukhi brought down a cross in the Goa half under control with Nawaz trying to challenge him to the ball despite being well off his line. Mukhi tried to chip the ball up and over into the net but missed his target.
But Goa didn't, two minutes later, when Fall equalised for them. Goa, too, scored from a setpiece. Boumouh delivered his free-kick from the right at the near post which was headed down by a Goa player before it fell to Fall who at slotted it home with a diving header.
Jamshedpur had one more chance in the 38th minute when Cidoncha put his free-kick to the far post where Memo peeled off his marker and had the goalpost at his mercy but instead blazed his effort up and over the bar.
