GAURAV MARYA, president of Franchise India Holdings, recommends a Bang & Olufsen home theatre system this season — it’s his own stressbuster. But he’s quick to warn that it’s best not to get too attached to your gadgets!

What’s the best gadget to buy this season?
I think the best gadget to buy right now would be Bang & Olufsen’s home theatre system, which has great picture and sound quality.

Name a gizmo that you would find embarrassing to own.
Old gadgets can become an embarrassment either for their slow speed or size or features. To avoid embarrassment, one can’t be emotional about gadgets.

Is there one gadget you use as a stressbuster?
After a long day’s work, my iPod proves to be immensely relaxing.I also like to catch up on interesting flicks on my home theatre.

Name an early gadget buy that you still use.
I believe in new and innovative products, and technology is getting slimmer and faster. Updated models and higher-end versions make life much easier.

What gadget do you find too complicated to handle?
The iPhone is highly overrated. While is has stunning features, it is equally user-unfriendly. It takes a lot of time to find the right keys to get cracking on the function.

What gizmo would you love to gift, to whom and why?
I would love to present a BlackBerry Pearl to all my business managers in Franchise India, which would help make processes and decisions more effective.

What gizmo would you invent, if you could?
I’ve always wanted a phone that can be used during a flight so that the travel time can be used well, especially on long flights.

Is there a gadget you lost and still feel sorry about losing?
I am fortunate not to have lost any gadgets yet.

Name a buy you regret having spent so much money on.
I found the iPhone I bought too cumbersome with poor functionality.

What’s your highest-performance yet easiest-to-handle gadget?
I am all praises for BlackBerry because it’s just what I always wanted — easy to handle, user-friendly, and it communicates effectively.
