The XIV additional chief metropolitan magistrate on Wednesday granted permission to release Srinivas Talluri, former auditor of PriceWaterhouse and one of the accused in the Satyam scam, on bail.
Talluri secured bail from the Supreme Court on February 4 after unsuccessful attempts at the fourth metropolitan sessions judge court and the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The CBI here contended that the bail order given by the apex court reflected only earlier cases and not the one it had filed against him, related to filing of false income tax returns, in January this year.
The court heard the matter yesterday and reserved the orders for today.
It rejected the objections of the CBI and granted permission to immediately release Talluri from Chanchalguda jail, where he was lodged with others accused in the Satyam case for the past one year.
