eGain to invest $5 mn in Pune

eGain Communications Corp, US-based global call and contact centre software and services providers, will invest around $5 million in the next two years in its Pune facility. This is its only facility in the country. With this addition its total investments becomes $15 million.
 
The company is also planning to ramp up its headcount to around 300 personnel from the present 160 personnel in the next 24 months. It also plans to set up an additional facility in the country.
 
"The increase in investments will be used to further our research and development (R&D) activities,which currently take place from Pune unit. We presently, deal with products for the call centre industry and plan to develop more products on our existing platforms," said Vivek Rastogi, eGain Communications chief operating officer (APAC & India).
 
The company has already invested $10 million in the Pune facility. The latest investment would be utilised for growth in the country.
 
The company also sees good prospects as the sector to which it provides services is going through a high-growth curve. eGain also intends to recruit another 140 employees in the country taking its total headcount to 300 within two years.
 
At present, the company has around 160 employees based out of Pune, of which 120 are technical and the remaining are sales and support personnels. The 120 people are into text and professional supports for its mail management and knowledge management products.
 
The location and investment for the second facility have not been decided yet. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, eGain has operating presences in 18 countries and serves over 850 enterprise customers including Vodafone, Orange, AT&T, ABN-AMRO, Barclays, HSBC, Dell and Charles Schwab.
