Japanese imaging solutions provider Epson today launched its first Pro Centre store in the city for showcasing its printer range, carrying out demos and for facilitating customer bookings.

"We are planning to expand operations in India, as it is a growing market. We are looking at setting up more stores in the metros like Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore," Epson India Managing Director Etsuo Fujita told PTI.

A $13-billion company, Epson has been manufacturing imaging printers since 1968 and has presence in 109 countries.

"This March-end, we are likely to close with around Rs 300-crore turnover," Epson India General Manager Sales (West and South) Ramprasad R V said.

The Bangalore-headquartered company has been clocking a growth rate of 10-15 per cent year-on-year, he added.

The Japan-based Seiko Epson Corp has three factories -- one each in China, Indonesia and Philippines.

"Each factory produces 5 million units per year and some of these are exported," Fujita said.

Asked whether the company plans to set up a manufacturing facility in India, Fujita said, "We are considering, but it is not yet confirmed."

Epson markets dot-matrix printers, inkjet printers, laser printers, scanners and LCD projectors. Its products are used by the commercial segment for printing film banners, in professional photography as well as for home use.

Publications like The Times of India, The Hindu, Malayala Manorama, and Yashraj Films are some of the clients using Epson printers for proofing of newsprint and images, Ramprasad said.
