Shares of HCL Infosystems on Friday soared 17 per cent on the bourses amid reports that it has won contract worth of Rs 2,200 crore from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Buoyed by the reports, shares of the company jumped 16.62 per cent to Rs 51.20 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in the morning trade.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the scrip gained 17 per cent to Rs 51.20. As per reports, the Aadhaar number repository and its IT infrastructure will be run by HCL Infosystems.
HCL Infosystems is now expected to develop an IT backbone for the Aadhaar project, and ultimately handle the data of all 120 crore Indian residents, the report added.
Meanwhile, the broader market, the BSE barometer Sensex was trading over 90 points higher at 17,680 at 1058 hours.
At the end of the trading session, shares of HCL Infosystems settled 11.73 per cent higher at Rs 49.05.
The company also later confirmed that it is one of the shortlisted bidders for the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) project.
In a regulatory filing, the company said it it yet to receive any confirmation for winning the contract. During the day, the stock has soared by as much as 16.62 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 51.20.
On the NSE, the stock settled 11.43 per cent to Rs 48.75.
In terms of volume, 37.27 lakh shares of the company got traded on the BSE, while more than 90 lakh equities changed hands on the NSE.
