NIIT Limited, a leading IT training solutions provider which has a presence in around 40 nations across the globe is aiming to set up 25-30 more overseas centres in China, Africa and Vietnam in 2009-10.

“NIIT has around 350 centres in 40 nations across the globe (as on December 2008) and we are looking at a 7-8 per cent growth in our overseas centres in 2009-10. While we are not averse to setting up our centres in new overseas geographies, we are aiming to deepen our presence in the nations where we already have a presence”, Vijay Thadani, chief executive officer, NIIT Limited told Business Standard.

Among the overseas destinations, NIIT has about 180 centres in China, 30 centres in Nigeria and over 25 centres in Vietnam. About 25 per cent of the company’s revenues come from the overseas centres.

Earlier NIIT had announced that it was looking at a three-fold expansion in its centres in China, Vietnam and Nigeria over the next five years.

Asked on NIIT’s plans on launching new industry specific courses and overseas collaborations, Thadani said, “We are in talks with some overseas firms for a possible tie-up but things are yet to be worked out. NIIT also plans to come out with new courses but they haven’t been finalised.”

In 2008, NIIT had launched a new curriculum on Business Intelligence under NIIT's flagship GNIIT programme. The business intelligence curriculum of GNIIT called the GNIIT Business Systems and Information Management track will introduce career aspirants on technologies such as analytics, programming, dashboards, data mining and warehousing.

The training on business intelligence is being offered by NIIT in collaboration with US-based SAS Institute Inc, a global leader in business analytics software and services market.
